New Relationship with You

Somatic Explorations for a Fresh Perspective

I recently read that Americans idolize self-improvement and I felt thoroughly called out. But this series isn’t about becoming unrecognizable. It’s about recognizing the tremendous capacity you already have to notice your habits, meet yourself kindly, and inhabit your life more fully.

The world doesn’t need a New You. It needs the you that’s already here: powerful, present, and connected.

January 7 — Movement
Have you ever felt like life should be a little easier? Or like you don’t have time for back pain or burnout? In a world of perpetual motion, we’ll look at how we brace against daily life and how we can soften into the body’s support structures to feel more comfortable in our skin.

January 14 — Roots
Do you ever feel like you’re hovering an inch above the Earth instead of sinking into it? Like your posture is at war with gravity? We’ll explore gravity as relationship: resisting it, yielding to it, and letting grounded support rise beneath us.

January 21 — Space
What if we didn’t shrink down or puff up? What if the space we take up is enough? This evening is about three-dimensionality and how we peacefully, confidently claim our place in the world.

January 28 — Paradox
If you’re tired of the 24/7 news cycle, you’re not alone. Modern (social) media loves certainty. It tells us we’re right, they’re wrong, end of story. But our bodies know there’s more to it than that.

We’ll explore contradictions in the body—effort and ease, holding and releasing, expanding and protecting—as a way of negotiating the layered, intersectional realities of our lives.
